About & Editorial
Who we are
KunststoffWissen is an editorially run knowledge portal for plastics processing, materials engineering and polymer chemistry. Our content serves engineers, designers, buyers and technical professionals. The editorial team works brand-neutral – facts, standards and traceable property data come first, not individuals.
Content is overseen by an editorial team with an engineering background. What matters is not a single individual, but the verifiable technical basis behind every statement.
Our editorial standard
- Source-backed, not estimated: Every property value and normative statement is traceable to a named source – an ISO/DIN/EU standard or recognised technical literature. Where a figure cannot be substantiated, we flag it as such instead of guessing.
- ISO-based: Material data is given with its test standard (e.g. tensile modulus per ISO 527, melt mass-flow rate per ISO 1133) so values stay comparable.
- Transparent methodology: Calculated figures – such as the polymer-price index – rest on openly documented formulas and publicly available data. The methodology page sets out the approach.
- Independence: Editorial content and advertising/affiliate content are kept separate. Affiliate and sponsored links are labelled (affiliate disclosure). Advertising helps fund the free offering but does not influence technical assessment.
- Correction policy: We correct errors promptly once notified. Send factual notes and source corrections via the contact page.
How our content is made
Topics are researched, checked against primary sources (standards catalogues, technical literature, public data series) and structured in a consistent silo layout: internal linking, property tables, FAQs and standard references. Calculation tools are based on published, physically validated formulas and each carries a boundary disclaimer ("guideline value, not a substitute for materials testing").
Chain of evidence
The building blocks of our work are openly linked:
- Standards glossary – a searchable directory of the ISO, DIN and EU standards relevant to plastics & chemistry, each number web-verified (metadata only, no standard text – copyright).
- Polymer-price methodology – formula, data sources and update logic of the price index.
- Tools & Calculators – engineering calculators with disclosed formulas and disclaimers.
- Imprint – the responsible legal entity and provider identification.
Notice & liability
All content is provided for technical information and prepared with care, but without warranty. For liability-relevant decisions, consult the binding standard editions (ISO/Beuth) and the material and machine manufacturers. Binding prices are quoted by the distributor.
